SDG construction of synchronous electric machines Print
SDG constructionSDG construction is based on a symmetrical dual gap topology. A rotor is placed between two stators with concentrated multiphase windings.

Main advantages of SDG over standard constructions are:
  • higher torque density

  • substantially lower thermal resistance between stator windings and a casing

  • enhanced motor performance due to better heat management

  • lower noise and vibration due to balanced forces on a rotor

High performance synchronous electric machines of rotary or linear topology with high torque and power density, high efficiency and low noise and vibration can be based on the SDG construction.

There is an international patent application regarding the SDG construction.
